Two adults died after a suspicious explosion at a house on Sterncourt Road in Bristol around 6:30 am on Sunday morning. Three additional individuals, including a child, sustained injuries and were transported to a local hospital.
In response to the explosion, Avon and Somerset Police declared a major incident. Emergency services arrived promptly, cordoning off the area for safety precautions. Residents within the vicinity were evacuated to a temporary rest centre at a nearby Harvester restaurant.
Police have ruled out terrorism as a motive for this tragic event, instead treating it as suspicious. The authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the explosion.
