Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk is a potential candidate for a loan move, with Coventry City reportedly among the clubs showing interest. The 25-year-old Ukrainian has recently returned to competitive football after a period of suspension.
Sources indicate that Chelsea is open to sanctioning a loan for Mudryk. Coventry City is one of at least three Premier League clubs that have enquired about the player. Strasbourg is also an option for Mudryk, as Chelsea can send one more player on loan to their sister club, adhering to FIFA rules that permit a maximum of three players on loan to a specific club at any given time.
Mudryk’s Return to Play
Mudryk’s return to Chelsea follows the resolution of disciplinary proceedings against him. The 25-year-old had not played a competitive game since November 2024 after testing positive for meldonium. However, a change in the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) scientific reporting standards for meldonium analysis meant that under current guidelines, he would not have been suspended for the same incident.
The winger made cameo appearances in Chelsea’s final three matches of their pre-season tour. Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso stated last week that a decision regarding Mudryk’s future was still pending, acknowledging him as a “special player” in a “special case” requiring sensitive assessment.
Following the lifting of his suspension, Mudryk joined Chelsea’s training camp in Hong Kong. Reports suggest a noticeable change in his demeanor, with the player appearing more open and engaging with club staff and teammates. He played his first match for Chelsea in 21 months during a friendly against Juventus.
