Celtic manager Martin O’Neill has indicated that Bodo/Glimt striker Kasper Hogh is expected to undergo a medical with the club in the next 24 hours. The 25-year-old Denmark international has been linked with the Scottish champions for several months.
Reports suggest that Celtic has reached an agreement for a club record fee of £11m with the Norwegian team. This potential transfer follows the departure of Daizen Maeda from Celtic Park, who moved to Ipswich Town in a £10m deal.
Transfer Progress and Manager’s Comments
O’Neill addressed questions regarding the deal’s progress after Celtic’s 2-2 draw with AC Milan in a pre-season friendly. He expressed optimism about the transfer, stating, “Yes, I’m hoping that that will happen. I think there’s a good chance of it.”
He further added that while things can remain uncertain until a deal is finalised, the process is “certainly progressing.” When asked specifically about Hogh’s medical, O’Neill confirmed, “Yes, apparently so. He will have one in the next 24 hours, I think.”
The potential arrival of Hogh could alleviate some pressure on Celtic’s board and manager, particularly after the recent sale of Maeda. So far this summer, Celtic has made one signing, with Colombian forward Camilo Duran scoring three goals in three warm-up matches.
Hogh’s Career Trajectory
Kasper Hogh’s career began in the youth ranks at Randers before moving to Hobro in the second tier after an injury-affected period that included a loan spell at Valur in Iceland. He then joined AaB in January 2022.
A year later, he transferred to Stabaek, who had recently been promoted to the Norwegian Eliteserien. His time at Stabaek saw his career gain momentum, leading the club to exercise their purchase option six months into his year-long loan after he scored eight goals in 14 games.
Within three months of that, he signed a pre-contract agreement to join Bodø/Glimt in January 2024. He became his new club’s top scorer with 12 goals as they secured the Norwegian title. His seven goals in the Europa League also made him the competition’s joint top marksman during their run to the semi-finals.
In 2025, Hogh was again the club’s top scorer with 17 goals, though Bodo/Glimt finished second, one point behind Viking. He was called up to Denmark’s senior squad in March and made his debut as a late substitute. In a subsequent appearance, he came off the bench to score Denmark’s equaliser in their World Cup play-off final against the Czech Republic, a match his side ultimately lost in a penalty shoot-out.
Further Transfer Speculation
Celtic has also been linked with Paderborn midfielder Mika Baur. When asked about the possibility of signing the 22-year-old German, O’Neill stated, “That, I genuinely can’t tell you. I genuinely cannot tell you at this minute.”
He added that he had been focused on preparing for the recent game and would assess the situation later. O’Neill also mentioned that the club has “a few other things in the pipeline that might come to fruition, which would be great for us.”
