This year’s race, held on May 3, 2026, marked a significant moment as it returned to Ankara for the first time since 1999.
The race concluded with a challenging 105.2-kilometer stage from Ankara to Ankara, featuring competitors from various countries. Berwick secured his overall title with a total time of 26 hours, 34 minutes, and 19 seconds, completing a total of 1,133 kilometers throughout the tour.
Yılmaz emphasized that “the race brought together athletes from 27 countries and showcased Türkiye’s geography, history and natural beauty to a global audience of millions.” This event not only highlighted cycling but also positioned Türkiye prominently on the international sports stage.
Separately, Türkiye achieved remarkable success at the European Para Archery Championship, finishing second overall with ten medals. Oznur Cure Girdi notably won gold in the women’s para compound individual category for the second consecutive year.
