There had been speculation that Fury might attend Joshua’s fight, despite his earlier insistence that he would not be present. A Fury lookalike even briefly misled reporters. Fury’s manager, Spencer Brown, indicated that the ‘Gypsy King’ would be “there in spirit.”
Fury had recently secured his own warm-up victory against Mariusz Wach in Pattaya. The fight between Joshua and Fury, two prominent figures in British boxing, is reportedly agreed for November. While both fighters may not be at the peak of their careers, their commercial appeal remains strong. Joshua’s recent struggles, however, could position Fury as the clear favourite for the upcoming bout.
Contracts for the fight have been signed, though the specific venue and date are yet to be announced. The event is expected to stream on Netflix. While British fans are hoping for a homecoming event, it is understood that Saudi organisers and broadcasters are considering a venue in the United States to cater to American audiences. Hearn confirmed the contractual agreements, emphasising that Joshua’s recent victory was a testament to his strength and resilience over the past seven months.
